For Hair Removal & Reduction
FAQs about
the Comet DS

How does the Comet get rid of unwanted hair?
The
Comet™ uses laser and electric energies to damage the hair follicle, which stops the follicle from growing hair. Gradually, over several treatments, the amount of hair in the treated area is permanently reduced.

Is hair removal treatment with the Comet safe?
Treatment is very safe for the skin. There are many advances in the Comet technology that make it one of the safest and most effective hair removal systems available for all hair and skin colors. The light and radio frequency energies used in the Comet have been used successfully for decades in medicine, surgery and aesthetics without
adversity.

What kinds of results can I expect from treatment?
Each treatment will result in less hair growing back. Hair that does come back will, progressively, be finer, lighter in color, and slower growing after each treatment. Because of hair growth cycles, more than one treatment is needed to affect all the follicles in an area. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 6-8 treatments, although individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors. Clearance of lighter colored hair usually requires more treatments than darker colored hair.

How frequently do I need treatments?
Treatments are usually performed every 4-8 weeks, but this depends on individual factors that our expert staff will discuss with you during your free consultation.

Does hair removal treatment hurt?
The sensation you'll feel is often described as a hot pinch or needle prick, which lasts only a fraction of a second. You also may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a brief time afterward. Most people tolerate treatments well without needing any topical anesthetic. Your technician will discuss and monitor your comfort level during treatments.

What happens after each treatment?
Pinkness in the skin is normal, temporary and lasts only a brief time. Most people return to work or resume their normal activities immediately after treatment. Over the next 2-4 weeks, the treated area will shed some hairs. Some people even experience hairlessness in the area while waiting for the next treatment. Our staff can provide you with more information about what to expect post-treatment.

Who should get Comet treatment for hair removal?
Anyone who wants a permanent end to shaving, waxing, plucking or electrolysis should consider having Comet hair removal treatments. A few medical conditions can prevent people from having treatment, however, which will be discussed with you during your free consultation with our expert staff.
