For Cellulite Reduction
FAQs about
VelaSmooth

What is cellulite?
Cellulite occurs primarily in women but sometimes in men as well. Uneven tension within the hypodermal layer of fat creates an uneven skin surface and dimpling. Hypertrophied adipocytes, trapped lymph and poor circulation all contribute to the appearance of cellulite.

How does the VelaSmooth improve the appearance
of cellulite?

The
VelaSmooth combines gentle light and radio frequency (RF) energies—the elos™ technology—with mechanical rollers and vacuum suction to manipulate the superficial fat tissue layer that contributes to cellulite. The heat from the light and RF energies increases metabolism of this fatty layer and shrinks the size of fat cells. The mechanical rollers and vacuum suction act on the blood vessels to increase circulation to the treatment area, as well as massage the skin, to achieve a smoother, less dimpled surface appearance.

Is the treatment with the VelaSmooth safe?
Treatment is very safe for all skin colors and can be performed even on tanned skin. There are no long-term health hazards from light or RF energies.

What kinds of results can I expect from VelaSmooth treatment?
You should see a gradual improvement of cellulite in treated areas and in most cases, a firmer and tighter skin surface. Most people notice a re-contouring of treated areas such as the “saddlebags” in the thigh area, often reported by a measurable reduction in circumference or girth. Added benefits include improved circulation and relief of muscle aches where treated.

How frequently do I need cellulite treatments?
The initial treatment series consists of 16 sessions, twice weekly for eight weeks. Some people see improvement after 10-12 sessions. Others may need the full 16 sessions, depending on an individual body’s response. Maintenance treatments to sustain the achieved results are typically performed once a month after the initial series. Each session is between 30-60 minutes long, depending on the size of the area(s) being treated.

Does cellulite treatment hurt?
Some people characterize VelaSmooth treatment as a warm, deep tissue massage; others say it feels uncomfortable or “pinchy." Treatment settings are tailored to an individual's sensitivity and gradually are increased as tolerated.

What happens after treatment?
Afterward, the treated area may appear flushed or pink from the heat for a short while, and may continue to feel warm for several hours. Some bruising could occur if you are prone to bruising. Normal activities can be resumed immediately or soon afterward.

Who should get VelaSmooth treatment for cellulite?
Anyone who wants to improve the appearance of cellulite in the thighs, hips, buttocks, abdomen or upper arms should consider treatment. Contouring of unwanted bulges and disproportionate fatty areas can also be achieved. The effects of body contouring and reduction of girth for some will be enhanced by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including proper diet and exercise. We will be happy to discuss with you what your specific expectations of treatment should be.
